Abercynon English Congregational chapel was first built in 1886 and was subsequently rebuilt in 1898. The later building, which dated to the 1898 rebuild, was built in the Simple Gothic style, with a gable end entrance and two storeys. There were two rooms off at the rear of the chapel, one of which was a possible vestry. Abercynon Chapel closed in 1980, destroyed by fire in 1995 and by 1998 had been demolished.
